Upgraded my old cigarette lighter in my 80’s car to a USB charger. – Install took time and fabrication, so depending on where you’re going with it, be prepared. Aside from that it was as straight forward as it could be. Took out my old cigarette lighter in the car, cut the wires, stripped them clean, mounted them to the connectors. Then I used a multi-tool to shave out the opening where the cigarette lighter mounted to slide this usb unit in on the trim plate. Back nut on the usb unit securely tightened down on the trim piece and just like that it was ready to reinstall with the wire connectors. Very pleased with the results.

Great value for an indispensible tool!! Nothing like knowing how your battery is feeling! – We have a “house battery” in the pickup camper we were driving home to Alaska from Wyoming in winter weather. We needed to run our 12V propane furnace and keep phones & iPad charged at night without running the battery too low and damaging it. This inexpensive device gave us a clear read on our battery condition allowing us to have warmth and charged phones every day of the trip without anxiety. Didn’t have it on the way down and was super-pleased at the difference of our confidence on the much-colder way back
Default state is always ON even when hooked to switched power – not fully aluminum – First thing is this is certainly not an entirely aluminum body like the wording makes it out to be. Second issue I have is, even though I hooked this to 12v switched power in my car, the default state is always ON. Reading the Q/A before purchasing many people said that you need to turn it on by hitting the power button the adapter… that is not the case when hooked to 12v switched power. I turn the car on and it turns on… which is not what I wanted… I would prefer it always be off and I need to turn it on when I want to use it.

Good, with one unnecessary issue – OK, I only had it for 3 days, but I have tested it. It looks good, works good, has decent accuracy on the voltage reading. Only annoying thing is that it consumes 2.4mA when it is turned off via the pushbutton. Yes, that is not a mechanical switch, it is a pushbutton that toggles between on and off. It is either “Off” with Voltmeter off and USB ports off but with 2.4mA draw, or it is “On” with Voltmeter on and USB on and around 14mA base draw (mostly from the display, I guess).

Fast charge – I used it with a little pod so I wouldn’t have to drill a giant hole in my dash. Connected it to the fuse box in my car with a fuse tap kit. Now it’s protected by 2 fuses which is probably a little excessive but whatever.
